Christmas Tree

A festive decoration using a Japanese weave.

The finished Christmas tree measures 3.7 x 4cm and could be used as a pendant, a pair of large earrings, Christmas cards or as a decoration.

1.
Close two green aluminium rings (A). Link two dark green copper rings (B) and two bright coloured copper rings (C) to the two green aluminium rings (A).

Link one green aluminium ring (A) through the two bright coloured rings (C) from step 1 and close. Repeat with a second ring A.

Link four dark green copper rings (B) and two bright coloured copper rings (C) to the two green aluminium rings (A) added in step 2.

Repeat step 3 twice. Link two dark green copper rings (B) to the last two green aluminium rings (A) added.

Refer to the picture to help you with steps 5-7.
Link one green aluminium ring (A) through the first two pairs of dark green copper rings (B) and close. Repeat with a second green aluminium ring (A). Link two dark green copper rings (B) and two bright coloured copper rings (C) to the two green aluminium rings (A) you have just added.

>Link one green aluminium ring (A) through the next two pairs of green copper rings (B) and the pair of bright coloured rings (C) added in step 5. Repeat with a second green aluminium ring (A). Link four dark green copper rings (B) and two bright coloured copper rings (C) to the two green aluminium rings (A) you have just added. Repeat once.

Link two green copper rings (B) to the last green aluminium rings (A) you have added.

Referring to the picture and steps 5-7, continue to link the rings to form a tree shape.

Turn the tree clockwise.

Link two green copper rings (B) to the second green aluminium rings of the bottom row. Link four green copper rings (B) to the middle green aluminium rings of the bottom row. Link two green copper rings (B) to the fourth green aluminium rings of the bottom row.

Link one bronze aluminium ring (E) through the first two pairs of green copper rings (B) and close. Repeat once.

>Link two brown copper rings (D) to the two bronze aluminium rings (E) you have just added. Repeat step 11, linking through the remaining green copper rings (B).

Link one gold copper ring (F) through a second closed gold copper ring (F). Repeat.

Link the two pairs of gold rings with another gold copper ring (F).

Make your first piece of tinsel four pairs of gold copper rings (F) long.

Make your second piece of tinsel six pairs of gold copper rings (F) long.

Referring to the picture, open one gold copper ring (F) and link it to the Christmas tree and your four ring tinsel length. Open a second gold copper ring (F) and attach the other end to the tree. Repeat with the second piece of tinsel.
